Every Third Wednesday! Upcoming Feed Your Senses featuring An Afternoon with The Atlanta Braves, Earthy Jazz, and Johnny Mercer:The Matthew Kaminski Organ Trio with Gwen Hughes
Born in Chicago, IL, Matthew Kaminski has been playing the ammond Organ since
he was five years old. He branched into piano as well and, following in his father’s footsteps, is also an accomplished ccordionist. Matthew has played in bands featuring numerous jazz legends, ncluding Jimmy Heath, Tony Monaco, and Jon Faddis. In April of 2009, Matthew accepted the position of organist for the Atlanta
Braves. He can be heard at every home game at Turner Field, the home of the The mix of elegant jazz and earthy blues found in Gwen Hughes makes her an artist not easily categorized. In the end, she is best described as a fusion artist - a fusion of blues, rock, and jazz. She has four CDs on Fairfield Records, with her latest release being an EP of kids’ music available on iTiunes, “Big Kids Jazz.” Gwen is internationally known, appearing in places as diverse as Italy and Croatia, Prague and Istanbul. Global education & working with children is a passion: past trips abroad have taken her into the slums of Nairobi, Kenya; the immigrant areas of Paris, France; and Casablanca, Morocco. Matthew and Gwen are friends who share a love of music and The Atlanta Braves. It’s only natural that they come together at the Rialto to celebrate both. Joining them will be Ben Weatherford on guitar and Mike Hinton on drums. The band will celebrate the music of Savannah native, Johnny Mercer, arguably the greatest lyricist of the popular American songbook.

Feed Your Senses is a free Lunchtime Learning Performing Arts Series held monthly at the Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University. The program features a different artist or speaker each month providing a casual and fun insider's look at their craft. Previous Feed Your Senses have featured the Faculty Jazztet from Georgia State's School of Music, Latin jazz group Havana Son, and Nefertari Bey, jazz vocalist.
