WELCOME TO THE RIALTO SERIESLetter from the Director
The 2007-08 Rialto Series will introduce the first year of the Loridans Dance Initiative. Upon receiving a $100,000 grant from the Loridans Foundation this past year, the Rialto will work with other community partners to put Atlanta on the map for contemporary dance, featuring Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Garth Fagan Dance, and David Dorfman Dance companies. The Series also holds true to its naming of “Best World Music Venue in Atlanta” with the international stylings of Angélique Kidjo, coming off a fourth Grammy win and new album release; A Tribute to Andy Palacio with the Garifuna Collective‘s unique and soulful sounds of Africa from Central America; and percussion legend Zakir Hussain and the Masters of Percussion, presenting the classics of North Indian drumming. And as always the Rialto Series includes the best of straight-ahead jazz in Atlanta with the World Saxophone Quartet and an opening night featuring Geri Allen's special project For the Healing of the Nations, a tribute she composed for the 5th anniversary of September 11th. Thank you again for your continued support of this remarkable cultural asset we call the Rialto Center at Georgia State University. I look forward to seeing you in person during our amazing 2007-08 season. Leslie Gordon, Director Click here to purchase tickets |
